Bike around the rim of Kilauea Crater

Join our Ohana for the day and experience the Volcanoes National Park the island-style way!

Your day begins with a scenic narrated drive from Hilo to the Visitor's Center at the Hawaii National Volcano Park. Fill your senses with the ride of a lifetime! Experience the volcano up close and personal as you ride through the plush rainforest and lava frozen in time on your 21 speed mountain bike. Your cycling adventure is an 8 mile ride on paved roads around the crater rim. It consists of mostly level terrain with a couple of small uphill sections. Along with the cycling portion, you will hike through an incredible rainforest that leads you directly through an amazing lava tube! With steam surrounding your feet, you will also stroll to the heart of the volcano at Halema'uma'u Crater.

During your ride you will stop at the Jagger Museum where you can see videos of the volcano erupting. Elevation is 4000', so wear comfortable clothing in layers, sunscreen and covered shoes. Bring a camera and sunglasses. Tour vans will follow the cyclists during the tour so personal belongings may be left in the van if you wish. If you have someone in your party that does not wish to ride at all they are more than welcome to enjoy the tour with us in the van.


Participants must be at least 12 years old, 54" tall and comfortable riding a bike. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Natural sulfur gases may affect those with respiratory problems. (You will not see molten lava on this tour.) 21 speed bike, helmet gloves, souvenir water bottle and rain jacket if needed are all provided.

This tour picks-up on both the Hilo and the Kona side of the Big Island. Departure times vary so please email or call for exact times.

This tour lasts approximately 6 hours from the Hilo area or 10 hours from the Kona/Waikaloa area.
